Seattle to auction public toilets on Ebay

seattle automated restroom 2

Yeah, you really can find EVERYTHING on Ebay — even public toilets! LOL! According to reports, Seattle’s five expensive and much-maligned automatic public toilets will show up on eBay as soon as next week. The city’s officials recently decided to pull the plug on the multimillion-dollar self-cleaning toilet stalls as the unisex facilities attracted drug users and prostitutes, and were less cost-effective than regular public restrooms. The toilets can be found at Victor Steinbrueck Park near Pike Place Market, on Pier 58 at Waterfront Park, in Occidental Park in Pioneer Square, in Hing Hay Park in the International District and at 1801 Broadway on Capitol Hill.

Andy Ryan, a spokesman for the utility, said the officials expected to post the toilets on the auction Internet site eBay soon, possibly next week. He said he did not know the details of the upcoming auction, such as whether city officials would establish a minimum price. He declined to discuss the matter further until plans are finalized. The city has spent about $5 million on the high-tech toilets since they were installed in 2004.

coolest animal hand paintings ever!

We all love drawings and paintings done in atypical surfaces — on sidewalks, on walls, on bodies, on hands. The video below is a collection of animal paintings done on a hand. It’s so weird and creative! Who would have a thought that a hand can become an elephant? A tiger? A toucan? A lovable dog? Yes, all these (and more) with just a hand and some painting stuff. Go watch! =)

girl’s weird backward feet corrected

Filipino girl with backward feet

Yup, that’s the girl above. Told you her weird feet is backward! See that it faces towards her back? Poor girl! =( But all has been corrected now by surgery (see photo at end). Here’s a bit of history:

The 15-year-old Filipino girl arrived at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx in May with her mother for treatment. She had never been able to walk on her own because she was born with feet so clubbed they twisted backward and upside down, forcing her to hobble on the tops of her feet with the help of crutches. Dr. Terry Amaral, her surgeon, said Jingle’s case was complicated by the fact that her clubfoot was associated with spina bifida, a birth defect that involves the incomplete development of the spinal cord or its coverings. He said doctors who saw Jingle as a baby thought her spina bifida would shorten her life span and prevent her from walking, so they did not treat the clubfoot. But Jingle’s condition turned out go be relatively mild.

Last Wednesday, doctors took off her post-surgical casts and replaced them with special support braces. Then came the moment for which she had waited a lifetime: She slipped her feet into her first real footwear and took several full, long strides. The surgery, which the hospital performed for free, involved inserting screws into the bones of her feet and turning them bit by bit to straighten them out. When the pins were taken out, the feet were straight, but casts were put on for several weeks to keep them that way. Dr. Terry Amaral, her surgeon, expects Jingle to wear the braces for about a year.

weirdest restaurant ever!

Beirut military themed resto

How weird? Its bullet-shaped menu serves sandwiches and burgers with names such as “Terrorist meal”, “RPG”, and “Kalashnikov.” WHOA!! For sure, this weird restaurant is NOT in the United States, lol! “Buns and Guns” is the new war-themed fastfood restaurant in Beirut’s southern suburbs, where the Hezbollah movement holds sway, and is the brainchild of co-owner Ali Hammoud.

Here’s more weird facts about “Buns and Guns”: Your orders are prepared by chefs in military fatigues with the roar of explosions as background music. Guns, bullets and pictures of other weapons decorate the interior. The slogan “A sandwich can kill you,” with a picture of a gun superimposed on a burger, is displayed outside. Completing the war motif, sandbags surround the outdoor seating area.

the newest rage: GPS art!

If you have a GPS receiver and is an artist by heart, you should consider using it to create masterpieces! More specifically, Position Art. Here’s how it’s done: you travel with your GPS and your route becomes a masterpiece. You can print it out for the world to admire! =) However, the author of popular GPS art “The Biggest Drawing in the World” (google it!) admits he never did it. Starvos’ “The World is my Canvas” seems to have done it. Ermm, you be the judge of that! Just check their GPS arts below =)
